Access Moderation

OCNYHR is the Access Validating Agency for Access to HR in the Yorkshire and Humber Region. This means that OCNYHR is responsible for ensuring the quality of the provision, for the security and safety of the Award of Credit and for the confirmation of the achievement of the Access to HE Diploma.
External Moderators are appointed by OCNYHR for each Diploma in each Centre
External Moderators work directly with the Centre Quality Contact.
Each Diploma will be reported on separately.
External Moderators will visit the programme twice each year.
The early visit is to ensure that:
- the course is running effectively
- assessment tasks have received internal approval from the Internal Moderator before being used with learners
- learners are settled onto the course and that it is meeting their needs
The end of year meeting is in two parts.
Part One : sampling of portfolios and agreeing achievement
Part Two: A formal meeting between the EM and the staff (including a learner rep), which is formally minuted by the Provider.
The purpose of this meeting is to:
- formally confirm achievement of the Access to HE Diploma
- review the assessment and internal moderation procedures and practices
- address any issues in relation to units, learner achievement and special consideration.
Quality Managers will receive a letter at the start of each year confirming the requirements of this meeting.
Please refer to the OCNYHR Access to HE Handbook for more information.
