For Access Providers
OCNYHR has a dedicated team to support our Access providers:
Julie Knowles is the Access to HE Manager
Angela Hall is the Access to HE Senior Administrator.
They will both be pleased to help staff with any enquiries you might have. Julie is available to discuss Access developments and will visit staff in provider institutions on invitation. She is working closely with other agencies to promote widening participation in higher education and to explore vocational routes. She will be interested to advise on strategies to reach learners in the community or the workforce.
Access to HE Funding
Statement from DIUS on funding for the Access Diploma which is clarification of 09/10 Grant letter statement on funding for Access to HE:
‘Higher level skills remain vital to our competitiveness, and the Council must continue to engage with HEFCE where sector compact proposals have a higher level skills element, and to implement the proposals in Higher Education at Work.
Continuing to work with HEFCE to secure more flexible routes to higher education and higher vocational learning, including supporting the Higher Education Diploma and working with the Quality Assurance Agency will also be important. The Council must also continue to support the work of the Joint Forum for Higher Levels on establishing areas of commonality between further and higher education credit frameworks, and work with HEFCE to assess and report progress on this to the Joint Progression Strategic Forum.‘
Access Advisory Group
The AVA has an AAG which meets during the year to share information and discuss national and regional policy issues.
If you would like to be on the mailing list for the AAG, please email your contact details to access2he@ocnyhr.org.uk
The Access to HE Committee
The OCNYHR has an Access to HE Committee which is made up of a range of practitioners from Further Education (FE), HE and the Voluntary sector, and meets three times per academic year. The aim of the Access to HE committee is to effectively raise and discuss issues pertaining to Access. The committee is kept fully informed about National and Regional issues, and is able to develop strategies in relation to improving the status, quality and effectiveness of the AVA.
