Information for Learners
OCNYHR is part of the national awarding body, National Open College Network, which recognises people’s learning achievements and ensures that the learning is of a high quality.
As a learner registered on an OCN course, you will receive a certificate which shows exactly what you have achieved. The course will be made up of units; each unit has a number of credits attached and is assigned a level. There is one credit for each 10 hours of learning. For each unit you have successfully completed, you will be awarded a certificate showing the number of credits you have achieved and at which level.
What are levels?
Entry Level provides a basis for progression to other learning programmes
Level 1 is comparable to NVQ1 and Foundation GNVQ
Level 2 is comparable to NVQ2, Intermediate GNVQ and GCSE standard
Level 3 is comparable to NVQ3, A Level and AS level standard
NOCN Qualifications
National Qualifications are approved by Government appointed authorities which ensure quality and standards. NOCN qualifications are approved by the authorities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
All NOCN qualifications are made up of units of learning in the same way as all OCN courses. So you can achieve a qualification at your own pace and revive recognition for your learning every step of the way
Moving On
OCN certificates and NOCN qualifications are nationally recognised and accepted as a means of entry to further study or work. Your certificate could help you to move onto another programme at a Community Centre, College or University or to prove to an employer that you have learned new skills or knowledge.
