Approved Internal Verifier Status
The Qualifications and Credit Framework will be implemented across all funded provision from August 2010. This will include all awarding bodies and all qualifications in the FE sector (including NOCN Qualifications and NVQs).
In order for the QCF to work effectively and to ensure the security and safety of the award of credit, all providers will be required to have their staff approved for AIVS or Direct Claims Status by 2010.
This means that the Centre is responsible for ensuring the quality of their learning provision and learner achievement.
Of course, all Centres currently meet the requirements of the CIF through OFSTED inspection, and this move to AIVS confirms your practice through a rigorous robust and reliable quality assurance system.
Centres need to identify staff who will be responsible for the quality assurance of areas of provision, and ensure that they are supported to gain the appropriate qualification for this role.
Staff who have not yet been involved in internal verification should shadow an experienced IV before they commence the training, so that they have some idea of the role and therefore can link the training to some practical experience.
- OCNYHR has a complete set of training to meet all development needs for AIVS.
- OCNYHR holds an annual AIVS Forum each January to directly support IAVS practitioners
- OCNYHR holds and annual quality review in July to support all staff involved in the quality assurance of OCN provision – Quality Reviewers, AIVS, and Access Moderators.
