Support for Access to HE External Moderators

Supporting External Moderators for Access to HE:

  • All new External Moderators attend induction training before they are appointed.
  • OCNYHR supports all External Moderators with guidance about quality, assessment, internal moderation, sampling and standardisation.
  • OCNYHR has a Lead Moderator for Access who shadows every new EM on at least one occasion in their first year.
  • All EMs can submit draft reports for guidance and support prior to submitting the final document
  • OCNYHR invites all EMs to participate in any CPD events in the annual CPD offer as well as running a bespoke training/sharing of issues meeting in May each year.
  • All EMs are also encouraged to attend both the Regional Standardisation event for Access in February, and the Annual Regional Quality Review in July.
  • The final end of year meeting with providers to Confirm the Award of the Access to HE Diploma is required to conform with guidance given by OCN – all documentation and guidance for the meeting has been circulated to all providers and EMs.
