The Role of the External Moderator:

  • Sampling assessed evidence and confirming assessment and internal moderation decisions in order to verify learner achievement at the four OCN Levels.
  • Advising the course team, particularly about equal opportunities in assessment.
  • Ensuring consistency in application of Level and assessment practice across given curriculum areas.
  • Providing clear written feedback to the Centre for a given area of delivery.
  • To recommend staff development for staff who have developmental needs.
  • To provide information to the OCN and the Quality Reviewer which informs the Quality process and audit.
  • Confirm the Award of the Achievement of the Access to HE Diploma.
